I have a friend I hold so dear
I love him more than life.
To me he's always very near,
Much more than kids or wife.

I know his ever-watchful eye
is always fixed on me
He'll be my friend until I die:
I speak of my TV!

He sends such wondrous things my way,
And fills me with delight.
With games and soaps and play-by-play
From dawn 'till late at night.

There's movies, news, and so much more
Like fights on pay-per-view,
And when they fight some far-off war,
He lets me watch that too!

And so, my friend, I'll give thee praise
Though others scorn and scoff:
My family knows the hell I'd raise
If someone turned you off!

But now I fear my life's too short
With you to call my own,
I'll always want "The People's Court"
And one more "Twilight Zone".

So when, at last, I fade to black,
Please grant my final wish:
Just lay my bones to rest in back,
Out there - beneath the dish.

It is very discouraging to see one's own poetry reproduced somewhere and labeled as "Author Unknown". Inevitably, that is what happens when people copy poems and redistribute them. Eventually the attribution to the author and the copyright notice is lost.

My only reward for writing this is the 15 milliseconds of fame I receive from having my name here. Don't deprive me of that.
